The Wilderness, Combat, and More Massive Changes!

(Mod Mark & the Future Vision of RuneScape Followup)

With the update of RuneScape 3, players want to know if the current RuneScape 2 servers will be offered on servers, alongside RuneScape 3 (similar to RuneScape Classic and RuneScape 2). Mod mark explained that this will not happen, as the core game mechanics will not be changing enough to warrant such a move.

Mod Mark was pleased to announce that RuneScape Gods will be much more important in 2013, as they will be playing a key role in faction wars and similar ideas in development. Live events will also become more large and regular, an exciting point to mention about the live events is that the actions of the players at a live event will shape and dictate the future environment of RuneScape, this is a similar game mechanic being used in Guild Wars 2.
Lag has always been an issue, and at times continues to be, but the question that many players want to know is will the HTML 5 update solve the lag problem? Mod mark believed that it would server side, but reiterated that lag can also be a player side issue (e.g. slow computer, poor connection).
Then wilderness has always been a thorny topic since its demise due to previously changed game content, but there is good news! Mod Mark emphasised that there was big plans for the wilderness, this included NPCs doing battle constantly, with players being able to join in, and also new content which will encourage non PKers to go into the wilderness. An exciting mention was that players may be able to swap xp, or cash out xp, upon leaving the wilderness. You have us on the edge of our seats!
RuneScape may also be available to play on different devices. Mod Mark explained that programming was now under way, and that hopefully by early 2013 this will become a reality.
