NBA 2K21 (Next-Gen) – Primary, Secondary, and Team Takeovers

1). Primary and Secondary Takeovers

New to the next-gen version of NBA 2K21 is the ability to set Primary and Secondary Takeovers. During a game, making positive plays will begin to fill up your Primary Takeover first. Once you’ve filled that meter, the Secondary Takeover bar will begin to fill. You can either choose to activate the Primary Takeover right away once you have filled the meter or attempt to fill up both and then activate both abilities simultaneously for an extra boost. However, keep in mind that your Primary Takeover meter progress will reset if you make a bad play.

2). Team Takeover

Team Takeover will return to the next-gen edition of NBA 2K21. The Team Takeover can be filled upon completing the Primary and Secondary bars. Once you’ve filled all three bars, you can then activate not just the Primary and Secondary Takeovers and the Team Takeover for the entire roster. Activating the Team Takeover will give you complete control over your teammates.

NBA 2K21 – How to activate Team Takeover?

Team Takeover

Do good things on the court, and you’ll be building the Takeover meter once it’s filled. Press the Right Thumbstick to activate Team Takeover.

Making shots, getting assists, playing defense, snagging rebounds… all of these things feed into the Takeover meter. Perform badly by turning the ball over, letting your man score on you, or taking bad shots, and you’ll see the Takeover meter fall.

Once you’ve maxed out the Takeover Meter, it’ll be flaming at the top of the screen. You’ll need to press in the Right Thumbstick to activate it, at which point you’ll get a large flashing “Team Takeover” on the screen. Once activated, every player on your team will be on fire. In Team Takeover mode, every player on the team can be controlled by you. Instead of just controlling your player, you can control the other four players on the screen.

NBA 2K21 (Next-Gen) – How to change Takeover abilities?

Mamba Mentality

To honor the late Kobe Bryant, who’s on the cover of the Mamba Forever Edition, the NBA 2K21 devs added a new Badge to this year’s game, entitled Mamba Mentality. To unlock this badge, you must have earned all of your character’s Badge points. Once you’ve acquired all of those Badge points and unlocked Mamba Mentality, you will have the ability to change your character’s Takeovers. It will take quite a bit of time to accomplish this, but this change gives players the ability to mess around with different Takeovers.
